Justin uses humor and creative games with my two kids so that they enjoy learning how to play an instrument. My daughter has been taking lessons for five years and my son for three years and because they learn in different ways, I’ve seen Justin adjust his teaching approach to get each of them interested in learning more.

Justin is not only a wonderful musician and a classical guitarist, but he is also an amazing guitar teacher, and he is great with both younger kids and teens. My kids started their guitar lessons with Justin when they were very young (my son was only 4.5), and as teenagers, they are still going strong with their guitar lessons and daily practice. Justin follows the Suzuki method and teaches with rigor, his lessons not only focus on technique, but also on music theory, and are a lot of fun. He is very innovative, and always finds creative ways to inspire my kids (I still remember the cardboard guitar he has made for my son to practice when he was 4.5). I am grateful for having Justin as my kids’ guitar teacher, and could not have asked for a better teacher.

From the time you meet Justin, you can tell your kid will have a great experience learning guitar. While some children dread music lessons because they can seem mundane, taking guitar from Justin is completely the opposite experience. He is always patient, has a very easygoing and fun relationship with his students, and knows just how to tailor the material to the age and maturity level of the student. Also, he’s a great player and someone who will make you and your student comfortable from the very beginning, regardless of the level of musical knowledge you and your student bring to the table. He keeps the lessons fresh by balancing classical/“book learning” songs with more modern songs (sometimes mashing up the two), and really listens to the student, giving encouraging and positive feedback always. I would highly recommend Justin to anyone (young or old) who’s looking for a guitar teacher!

Justin is a great teacher, he is able to build a strong relationship with the kids and to engage with them in various practice activities. He really takes into account what the students like or want to learn, in addition to the regular Suzuki pieces. He is always ready to help outside RMA, like for performances at school. It is also impressive how much he worked on and improved the quality and the efficiency of the lessons, during these remote learning times.

It is so rare to find a teacher who combines Justin’s level of heart and talent. His own skill and wide-ranging music knowledge are readily apparent, which allow him to mentor students at the highest levels of performance. At the same time, he remains warm, accessible, and fun to students and families alike. It is a genuine privilege to study under him.

Justin is an outstanding guitar teacher and our family could not be more delighted with our RMA guitar experience. Justin offers a winning combination for guitar instruction - expert skill and dynamic fun. He engages students in a meaningful way, creates a place where they can try and grow without fear of making a mistake, and makes skill development and technique fun! He also cultivates an amazing peer community through group guitar lessons. I have learned almost as much as my daughter and our whole family has been enriched by experiencing such beautiful music.

Justin has been a phenomenal guitar instructor to our son for the last 5 years and we couldn’t be more pleased.

As an instructor, Justin has a great talent for balancing fun with structure and fundamentals with games. Our son has not only become an accomplished guitarist but he looks forward to his classes and the challenges he receives. Justin is great at keeping our son motivated and excited about the guitar by switching up his style to adapt to our son’s learning style.

As a parent, I appreciate Justin’s responsiveness and patience as we work to balance multiple children, careers and extracurriculars. We’re not the most dedicated musical parents but Justin does a great job of meeting us where we’re at with understanding.
